Being a Life Preserver

I just found this site a couple of days ago.

Vital Signs Ministries

I particularly like the "Information Storehouse" part of the site. They also have numerous recordings of radio programs in their archives and transcripts of some of the programs.

The fact is that we are surrounded by a culture that considers unborn (and even born) life disposable, except in some cases. [See article below]. Just because we Christians consider ourselves "pro-life" doesn't mean we are automatically exempt and protected from the lies, mentalities, and even life-depleting actions of our culture. Abortion (from day 1 until natural death) is the fundamental, water-shed moral issue of our day. Each of us has a responsibility to be a life preserver.

How to Be A Life-Preserver:

1) Clean your own house. We have to make sure that we're not part of the problem, even by ignorance. God tells us to be careful to obey his commands.

This means being informed. Do your own research. If you choose to use birth control, make sure it isn't an abortifacient. [See the Information Storehouse: this includes all the most common methods: hormonal/medicinal/chemical pills, patches, implants and shots as well as the IUD]

Be critical of your own mentality toward children and disabled or elderly people. Do you find yourself thinking of them as "resource wasters"? Do some research to see what God's attitude is toward children and the infirm. Be honest and humble. Weed out whatever attitudes you've borrowed from the world.

2) Support ministries that reach out to women in need. Prayer is the first and foremost need, but they also need your financial and personal support. Monetary donations (Deut. 15:7 ff) and merchandise donations are vital to reaching these women with the message of the value of their babies and the gospel.

3) Support political candidates, nationally and locally, who are unwavering in their dedication to eliminate abortion and euthanasia from our land. Unfortunately, the Republican Party has let us down time and time again, as, in reality, the "culture of death" becomes further entrenched in our society. Our tax dollars still go in embarrasing amounts to Planned Parenthood and overseas "family planning" initiatives. Beyond being immoral, they are unconstitutional. Objectively examine your political loyalties and habits. Make sure they are consistent with what you know is right and true, then vote without fear. We recommend: www.godfamilyrepublic.com
